When to Surf Costa Rica
The Pacific Coast
The Pacific side is the primary engine of Costa Rican surf. The Dry Season (Dec–Apr) brings sunny days and smaller, clean NW swells perfect for beginners and longboarders. The Green Season (May–Nov) delivers massive SW groundswells for advanced surfers.
The Caribbean Coast
Operating on its own schedule, the Caribbean stays relatively flat during the Pacific's peak green season, but roars to life from November through March. Heavy, short-period tropical storms send world-class barrels to reefs like Salsa Brava.
